Kimball P. Kidder, generalmente nombrado como K. P. El 13 de abril de 1858 bajo el Nº de Patente 19931, PDF 108.495 Kb. patenta su primer colmena. El 26 de Junio de 1860 bajo el Nº de Patente 28.871 PDF 92.380 Kb. este apicultor de Burlington del Condado de Chittenden del estado de Vermont patenta una colmena.
